STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.  It is much more than that.  Learning STEM is a hands on approach which integrates subjects and skills in their learning experiences.  The focus of STEM education is on problem solving and developing 21st Century skills and preparing our students for the 21st Century economy and to thrive in our ever-changing 21st Century world.

21st Century Skills

21st Century skills must integrate the core skills that we apply to everyday tasks, an understanding of English, Maths, Science, ICT, and Finance. We believe we must develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, creativity, communication and collaboration skills, as it is these competencies that help us approach complex problems that face the world. Finally, to thrive in our changing environment we believe we must instil the character qualities of curiosity, initiative, persistence, adaptability, leadership and social and cultural awareness.

Curriculum

Pensmith STEM International

We believe that to prepare our children for the 21st Century we must focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education along with the ability to Communicate in English. We have enhanced the English National Curriculum with interesting and engaging multidisciplinary STEM projects.  We use the standards and learning outcomes from the British Curriculum to drive our learning and assessment.  This allows students to work in teams to promote their critical thinking skills through discovery and exploratory learning to develop and research ideas and solutions to real world problems.

The Curriculum follows a number of stages.
