Boxtel, an hourly hotel at Suvarnabhumi airport has officially opened for a service. It is especially made for tourists who have to wait for a long fight transfer, want to spend the night to catch a fight in the morning in time or spend the night in case of emergency. Hotel’s rates are also much cheaper compared to other general daily hotels.
Boxtel is small-sized hotel allowing only 1 guest per 1 room. It is located on B floor (or ground floor) of Suvarnabhumi Airport terminals in the area of Airport Link station. So, you can easily walk from the station without wasting time to take any kinds of transportation. This 24 hours hotel just opened last April, 2016.
Location
The exact location of Boxtel is next to Airport Link entrance; you just need to walk pass all money exchange shops until the end of the way or before you reach the walk way to Novotel Airport hotel, you will find the light-colored wood box hotel.
Check- in
At check-in counter, there will be staff 24 hours proving suggestions and information about hotel regulations. The hotel’s rate will be charged hourly starting from 2 hours at 700 Baht (current promotion at 600 Baht). The next hour rate will 300 Baht per hour (current promotion at 280 Baht).
The common area at Boxtel will be used as living room with working table and some snacks provided. The room is also beautifully decorated.
There are 12 rooms with the same size of 4 Square meter. The inconvenient part is that there are no toilets in the room or not even within Boxtel. Guests have to use Suvarnabhumi Airport’s toilets.
Entering into the room, the bed is already half of the whole area. At the corner, there is a small table with one bottle of water, mirror and a plug.
There are two switches; one for a light and one for a ventilator to let the air from outside in making the temperature in the room comfortably cool. However, you cannot adjust the coldness in this room. The below switchboard is the call for help in case of emergency.
My favorite part is the bed. The bedding here gives a comfy feeling as they are using fine mattress, quilt and pillow. It is absolutely according to the concept board outside the Boxtel saying that “Your sleep is our priority”.
After turning off the light, the room is getting completely dark. There is only a slight light from outside that can get through the room. The room can keep the noise out at one level but you can still hear disturbance sound especially, when the Airport Link makes the announcements. However, from what I have asked the staff, there are only a few announcements made after the light is out.
The regulations here include no smoking (smoking is also prohibited within the terminal), no illegal drugs or alcohol and no noise made to disturb other guests. Besides, there must be only 1 guest per room except when you are with a child below 14 years old. In such case 2 people can stay together in 1 room.
Wrap Up
Many tourists may face the problem of a long wait for flight transfer at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Some may face the unsmooth flight plan or whatever problems with their flights and cannot find a cheap hotel to spend just a few hours to take a rest. Boxtel can be one interesting option. From what I have experienced myself, I found that it is really for a short relaxing nap and suitable for people who have to wait for a long time to transfer their flights (from other provinces or to other provinces). Moreover, for people with really early flights, they can get to the gate in time in the morning.
The distinctive point is the price. If you are staying just a few hours (4-6 hours), it is a lot cheaper when you compare the price to Novotel airport hotel. Besides, it is a lot closer when you walk from Airport terminals. However, I consider the fact of having no toilets or bathrooms as a weak point of this hotel. If you are interested in staying at Boxtel, you can make advance booking via hotel website or any representatives such as booking.com.
