Every year there is an announcement of the National Mother of the Year. This year the National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand will give the National Mother of the Year Award (2018), and has additionally considered giving a new award of “maternal sacrifice” which will be given to Mrs. Samran Kunan, the mother of sergeant Sam ”Nawatree Samarn Kunan”, the hero of Tham Luang – Khun Nam Nang Non who was a former Thai Navy SEAL that lost his life during a mission to rescue 12 boys and their adult soccer coach in Chiang Rai on the 6th of July 2018.
His devotion was taught from his family values and his mother was his role model. She mentioned “Sam was a good obedient boy and never once made me sad or cry”
Through this experience she learnt “Every family can take Sam as their role model for living their life, and I strongly believe that if parents teach their children well and be a good example then they will be as good as you are”
As a result, “Mrs. Samran Kunan” will be receiving the National Mother of the Year Award in 2018 from Princess Soamsawali on Mother’s Day which is in August 12, 2018.
