KTM 390 Duke 2018
The new KTM 390 Duke 2018 has been officially launched and according to the importer and distributor of the premium Austrian motorcycle brand “Kathmandu,” the Berne Rubber company limited, it has that new look that Thai fans have been looking forward to. Referring to the motorcycle by its street name of the ‘The Beast’ or ‘Orange Devil,’ Berne Rubber executive director, Khun Phumin Nuntawong, says that the bike promises to make its owners, “the top fighters of the road.”
Apart from being versatile, strong, rigid, and aggressive, the KTM 390 Duke 2018, has a “powerful engine,” says Nuntawong. The motorcycle’s new TFT multifunction display has a fresh design interface and is the first Nookbikes model to include smartphone capabilities that use of Bluetooth for handsfree communication and music while driving. Drivers cam install the ‘KTM My Ride’ package which provides access to the bike’s menu using a smartphone.
Comfort and Control
Like the larger KTM 1290 Super, the new KTM 390 Duke 2018, also has LED headlights, a sporty two-piece seat at a height for both secure standing and “sports-oriented driving,” as well as a new Bolt-on Subframe for improved riding comfort. The bike’s ergonomic redesign has improved driver control, say its makers, and made the driving experience more enjoyable. Its hand levers are fully adjustable to match its drivers’ hands and among the bike’s other comfort accessories are technology-driven shock absorbers and an open-cartridge fork and piston split that support the KTM 390 Duke 2018’s improved comfort and control.
The car’s fuel tank capacity has also been dramatically increased from 2.4 liters to 13.4 liters, meaning that drivers can travel further distances, while the bike’s driving mode functions have expanded to include the Supermoto mode. Described as a feature for “expert riders,” Supermoto can be activated with one push of a button and switches off the system’s control of the bike’s rear brake pressure, while retaining control of the front brake. Riders looking for some extra fun can use their right foot to control brake pressure at the rear.
The KTM 390 Duke 2018 has a single-cylinder engine with a twin overhead shaft that gives the car its robust strength, say KTM. Powered by 32 kW (44 hp), the vehicle comes with a fuel injection system and a 46 mm throttle body, which combined with its lightweight 149kg give it the speed and power to leave the traffic behind. the 390 Duke 2018 also features a side exhaust that includes a link pipe and silencer.
Drivers of the KTM 390 Duke 2018 have access to KTM’s wide variety of accessories and luggage options from across the range. The PowerParts range gives 390 Duke owners the option to modify their motorcycle and includes the Touratech-Ibrackects for the Samsung Galaxy smartphones S5 all the way through S7, as well as for the Apple iPhone 6 through to the newly released iPhone 8 Plus. There are GPS bags, tank, rear, and side bag carriers.
