In order to create modern medical excellence, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital has improved the existing Cardiothoracic Operating Room to more modern “Cardiothoracic Operating Theater Integration: CLASS 10,000” with the very first Pyxis Scrub Station System machine in Asia. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn mercifully has made a recent official inauguration at H.M. Queen Sirikit Building, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital.
In this occasion, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has visited Cardiothoracic Operating Theater Integration and its up-to-date working system attentively and has said that it is such a colorful room. This white room is decorated with flowery pictures and there is Integration system with the capacity of telemedicine. In addition, the princess as vice-director of Thai Red Cross Society, has said that it would be as well useful for medical students’ learning. Meanwhile, the princess has tested Integration system which controls and commands other instruments’ working system through iPad. This system can be considered modern and safe from infection, a cause from direct contact with surgical instruments, making this room a high-level sterilization.
Vichai Benjacholamas, M.D., head of Cardiac Center mentioned that Cardiothoracic Operating Theater Integration, Cardiac Center, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital located fifth floor on H.M. Queen Sirikit Building has been in operation for 18 years. This was why the room reconstruction was at need using total of 95-million-baht donation from supporters and started in the middle of year 2013 to improve environment. The modern, highly safe, universal standard related medical instruments were set up to increase efficiency and to gain the name called Cardiothoracic Operating Theater Integration: CLASS 10,000. The room consists of electric surgical table, Laminar air flow corresponding with ASHRAE Standard, first Pyxis Scrub Station System in Thailand and Asia as well as Integration system with capacity of telemedicine and connection with cameras in room. This telemedicine system can broadcast surgery in sterile area to other monitors in room helping working person see surgery vision and area around conveniently and clearly as well as support outside-classroom learning. Besides, the system can be further developed to be E-learning supporting the related connection for Video Conference.
